Nevada Volunteers Hires New Executive Director
Non-profit executive to lead Governor’s Commission on Service
Nevada, Statewide, June 2, 2020 —The Commission of Nevada Volunteers has appointed Zanny Marsh as Executive Director of the statewide organization, effective immediately.
Marsh, a non-profit executive with deep roots in Nevada, brings more than two decades of experience with national service programs, volunteer management, federal and state grant administration, strategic communications, and government affairs.
“I believe in volunteerism and service, which transforms communities where we raise our families and share a commitment to values,” Marsh said. “I look forward to working with Nevada Volunteers Commissioners to support our partners and hundreds of AmeriCorps service members who meet critical needs in education, environment and conservation, and health care programs across Nevada each year.”
Marsh’s broad responsibilities include implementing a State Service Plan, which sets funding and program priorities for allocation of AmeriCorps funds and promotes volunteerism and community service with emphasis on increasing inclusive engagement government, private sector, nonprofits, and philanthropic donors across Nevada.
Marsh has designed programs adopted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Corporation for National and Community Service, and the U.S. Department of State and she has implemented projects in Nevada’s in Humboldt, Elko and White Pine counties and in Las Vegas, Reno, and Carson City.
“There may never be a more important time to help connect those who wish to serve with the organizations and communities that are making positive changes,” Amy Koeckes, Nevada Volunteers Commission Chair said. “Zanny has relevant leadership experience, vision, and a solid track record partner engagement in volunteerism and service.”
Marsh holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s in justice management. She developed and teaches a graduate course that examines implications of aging offenders in corrections facilities.
