Thank you for your interest in participating with the Dragon Kim Foundation Mentor program. Our mission is to inspire our youth to impact their communities while discovering and pursuing their passions. We're so glad you're considering joining our call, and appreciate your patience as we finalize our curriculum.
Our Fellowship Mentors support high school students as they implement a community service project from March through September. This is a unique opportunity for our fellows to be social entrepreneurs with up to $5,000 in seed funding. As mentors, you can help elevate your team by offering ideas to organize and/or innovate. Mentors can also be a great source of advice or accountability for goals the project members create. Full program dates and expectations are sent mid-January, and our general expectations are listed below. Please complete this survey so we can stay connected and see how you can best participate with our students.
Our Expectations (March-September)
Attendance for 3 Leadership Trainings (6 hours total): You will meet with your project team in-person* three times during our Fellowship Trainings.
Weekly Check-in (15 min per week): We expect each team to have a weekly phone/video conference to report about ongoing tasks, celebrations, and struggles.
Project Visit (2 hours): Each mentor will visit their project over the summer at least once.
Attend the Graduation and Challenge - Optional (3-5 hours): Teams will present their work at our Dragon Graduation. The top projects will then proceed to our competitive Dragon Challenge. Finalists will compete for a chance to earn an additional $5,000 grant from our Foundation.
*Subject to covid-19 regulations. If in-person meetings are not possible, these meetings will be held on Zoom.
